A VIBRANT PAST IN KENT ST

Kelco House, 364 Kent St

Nestled along the iconic Kent Street in Sydney's bustling CBD lies Kelco House, a place with a rich multicultural heritage dating back to the 19th Century. Named after the Duke of Kent, the younger brother of King George III, Kelco House stands as a testament to its historical significance. Its remarkable architectural integrity represents the era's warehouses that once thrived between King and Market Street.

We are blessed to be occupants in a building with such a rich history that includes: Gibson & Co (aka Bushell’s) as a tea and coffee warehouse in the 1930s and the National Phonograph Company (aka Thomas A. Edison).

Kahii's interior design honours history and respects and complements the existing architecture on site.

In a warm and intimate setting, natural timbers, textured sandstone & 100+ year-old bricks come together to create a fit-out that is refined, understated and rich in heritage. Against this backdrop of history, KAHII emerges as a welcoming space with minimalist Japanese-inspired textures. It invites you to partake in the city's dynamic café culture, creating a captivating contrast to the building's former identity as a warehouse.

Come and savour the unique ambience of our Kent Street Cafe in Sydney. Join us at KAHII in Kelco House, where narratives unfold, moments are cherished, and memories are made. Experience the perfect blend of history and modernity at this iconic Sydney location.

KAHII | OUR STORY

Welcome to KAHII, a unique blend of a Japanese Kissaten and a sophisticated evening bar, nestled in the heart of the Sydney CBD. Whether you enjoy exceptional coffee, tea, wine, cocktails or all of the above, we hope you enjoy our haven that bridges the gap between a traditional coffee house and a contemporary bar.

Introducing KAHII | Kissaten by Day, Bar by Night.

But what exactly is a Kissaten? It's a Japanese-style café that epitomizes the art of coffee, vintage charm, social connections, comfort, and delightful snacks. Our name, Kahii, pays tribute to the original Kissaten that first opened its doors in Japan, and we honour its legacy with our new space and exceptional coffee selection.
